Discover what’s next: 2025 Product Roadmap

Jan 17, 2025

The potential that blockchain technology holds in the reshaping of finance is undeniable, yet significant barriers still stand in the way of widespread adoption. For many, crypto remains a complex and disconnected system that feels out of reach. What’s more, many are put off by its lack of confidentiality. This represents a huge opportunity to build a solution that bridges the gap. Our mission is to make crypto accessible, private, and seamlessly integrated with traditional financial systems—empowering users to navigate the decentralized world with ease and confidence.

We capped off 2024 with the launch of Common Extension V1—but this was just the beginning. Common’s 2025 roadmap is packed with exciting new features that will expand user privacy, unlock smarter yield opportunities, and introduce seamless cross-chain functionality.

Here’s how we plan to turn this vision into reality.

Stage I (NOW): Common Extension and shielding go live

The first step in Common’s evolution began with the release of Common Extension V1, an EVM-compatible private crypto wallet. This initial version offers users the ability to shield tokens, create private accounts, and conduct private transactions. To prioritize security ahead of our formal audit, the shielding function is limited to 100 AZERO per user. This approach ensures user funds are protected while the security of the wallet is being rigorously tested.

Stage II: Common Mobile App release and stablecoin shielding

With a firm foundation established, in Stage II, we’ll shift our focus towards the mobile experience and adding support for more networks. This phase marks the debut of the Common Mobile App, along with significant upgrades to Common Extension

The gated release of Common Mobile App will feature WASM and EVM support, public transactions, and USDC, USDT and ETH shielding. The whitelisted ERC20 token shielding and support for public dApp connections will come to Common Extension, along with the lifting of shielding limits.

Additionally, basic automatic yield generation on a single blockchain will be available with Smart Yield, and Shielder and its privacy pool will also undergo a full external audit. It’s important to note that this stage is primarily aimed towards our community and early adopters, so they can provide detailed feedback on the usability of each product and its features.

Stage III: Privacy across the EVM ecosystem

With Stage III, Common introduces omnichain privacy, which unlocks new possibilities for cross-chain privacy and interoperability. Common Mobile App will offer users one private account that will be seamlessly available from different ecosystems, along with an in-app dApp browser and discovery tab. While cross-chain bridging will enable users to securely manage assets across multiple blockchains. Meanwhile, Smart Yield will evolve with autonomous rebalancing, optimizing returns based on real-time market conditions. This phase will establish a robust foundation for multi-network privacy and yield optimization, paving the way for mass adoption.

Stage IV: A seamless—and private—user experience

In this final stage, Common will transform into a comprehensive neobank solution—seamlessly integrating privacy, interoperability, and a dynamic set of financial tools. Common Mobile App will enable fiat on/off-ramping with payment cards and IBAN support, along with multichain token swaps and ENS-compatible private-to-private transfers for intuitive and private transactions. Common Extension will introduce advanced privacy features, which include private dApp connections with automatic stealth address management (creation/destruction) and an expert-mode view for power users. Additionally, Smart Yield will gain comprehensive interchain optimization, allowing users to maximize returns across multiple blockchains through dynamic rebalancing. Together, these upgrades will redefine privacy and usability within web3 finance.

Looking ahead: Delivering on our 2025 vision

In 2025, Common’s roadmap focuses on tackling the core issues holding crypto back from mass adoption: complexity, privacy, and interoperability. By introducing advanced privacy solutions and enabling seamless cross-chain interoperability, we aim to make blockchain accessible to both crypto-savvy users and aleph newcomers alike. This year’s milestones mark a pivotal step toward our vision of a unified crypto-fintech experience that brings the benefits of blockchain to everyone and sets the stage for a more inclusive financial future. As we gradually roll out new features, we’re committed to collaborating with our community and early testers and incorporating feedback that may further shape and refine the roadmap.
